Gild & Ash - a favorite for jewelry, gifts, and of course art!

The stoic exterior of traditional red brick is completely opposite of what you find when you open the door of Gild & Ash. You step into a sophisticated space with gold and black tones, oozing with style unmatched in the area. The patterned floor and tin ceilings tiles offer a hint of the past while the stunning light fixture hanging delicately in the middle of the space showcases a distinct modern flare. Balancing the elegant bones of the space, bright art is sprinkled throughout the store, adding the just right pop of color.

The very down-to-earth, Holly Walsh, store co-founder, greets each customer with a big smile, as she points out new items and the best gift ideas. With a background in corporate retail and visual management, Holly took a leap of faith and along with Sasha Hogan opened Gild & Ash in 2016. With a great idea in mind, Holly and Sasha, hunted for the perfect location to launch their business. Once an antique lighting and silversmithing shop, Holly knew that the building at the bustling intersection of Patterson and Libbie Ave. was the “one”. Holly and Sasha had a clear vision of what the space could be and set out to create bright, open, classy, chic and a unique shopping experience along the Libbie/Grove corridor. Nearly three years later, this is a desired shopping destination.

Holly fills the space with all things that she loves and brings unique trends to the Richmond market. Influenced by her Tennessee roots and New York style, Holly has curated a collection emphasizing one of a kind jewelry, handmade soaps, exceptional hostess gifts, and a growing collection of paintings from local artists. Admittedly, when Holly opened the store, she did not think art would become such an integral part of her business plan. But over the last year, the walls of Gild & Ash have adorned art from local artists like Christine Rennie, Mary Tooker, Amanda Tucker, and new comer Nicki Metcalf, making Gild & Ash a go-to place for one of a kind original art. And in partnership with Art For The Home, Janie Pinney’s (read more about Janie here) mixed media works framed in acrylic will be available at Gild & Ash for a limited time. These little pieces make great gifts and beautiful bookshelf art.

So go on and visit Holly at Gild & Ash and follow along via Instagram for the latest updates and product introductions. And don’t forget to check out all the art!
